I have two creative passions in my life: empowering others to create fulfilling lives and writing. This is what makes my heart sing and feeds my soul. And, I absolutely love that I have made a career out of doing what brings meaning and purpose to my life:
I help people create and live their best life.
The life I live is one I could never have imagined for myself. Many years ago I discovered something that changed my life completely: Unlimited possibilities exist outside the boundaries of our imaginations. Since then, my own experience is that life just keeps getting bigger and fuller.
After working for 15 years as a psychotherapist, Life Coaching evolved from an intersection of commitment and need. With homes in Ireland and Maine (USA), I needed a career that would allow me to spend time with and participate in the lives of my family and friends on both sides of the Atlantic.
And that's what I do.
I have clients in the United States and Europe. Because coaching is done primarily by telephone and thanks to incredibly low long distance charges with companies like Vartec in the USA, TalkTalk in Ireland and Skype, I am always available to my clients, no matter where I am.
Today, in addition to my Life Coaching and Personal Development work, I have almost twenty years experience in the United States and Ireland leading retreats and workshops; practicing psychotherapy; and teaching counseling skills (Maynooth College and University College Dublin under the auspices of their Adult & Continuing Education Department and Lifelong Learning Programs.)
- I did my Life Coach training through Mentor Coach, LLC ("Training accomplished therapists to become extraordinary coaches"). And, because I strive for excellence in my professional practice, I am a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF) and fulfilling their requirements for certification as a Life Coach. I received my certification as a Retreat Coach through Mountain Coach Training.
- I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern Maine, with a BA in Communication, and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from the Boston College Graduate School of Social work.
- My training in the Relaxation Response and Optimism, Humor and
Cognitive Restructuring programs through the
Harvard Mind/Body
Medicine Institute is a commitment to making an holistic
approach the foundation of all my work.
In addition to my academic credentials, I have some personal qualities that I believe have been invaluable to my work with so many different types of people
-
Compassion - The ability to see and hold the larger picture
- A gift for listening
- A writer's sensibility
- Intuition
And last, but certainly not least - a sense of humour!
Bottom line? I had a vision for my life. I figured out what I needed
to do to get there, and did it - one step at a time. What I want to
share with people is what my life experience continues to prove:
